# Overtaking & Following at Night

## Overtaking & Being Overtaken

Visibility is reduced, so take extra care. Only overtake if you can clearly see the road ahead and it will remain clear throughout the manoeuvre.

Do **not** overtake if you’re near:

- A junction, bend, dip, hill, bridge, or pedestrian crossing.
- Double white lines or other restrictions.
- A vehicle turning right or overtaking.

If another vehicle overtakes you, **dip your lights** to avoid dazzling them.

## Following at Night

- Keep a safe distance and ensure your dipped lights **fall short of the vehicle ahead**.
- Avoid using full beam on dual carriageways or motorways when other drivers are in view.
