What is a Hazard?
A hazard is anything that may require you to change speed or direction.
Examples include:

Animals or livestock on the road
When approaching a hazard:

Check your mirrors early.

Decide whether you need to signal, slow down, or change course.
MSM/PSL Routine

M – Mirrors: Check your mirrors to assess both the speed and position of vehicles behind.

S – Signal: Give a clear signal in good time.

M – Manoeuvre: Use the PSL steps below.

P – Position: Move your vehicle into the correct position early so other road users understand your intentions.

S – Speed: Adjust your speed as necessary for safety.

L – Look: Observe all directions when you reach a point with a clear view.
