Towing a Caravan
Basic Requirements
Towing a caravan requires the same skills and safety precautions as towing any trailer.
You must hold a full Category B (car) licence before towing any trailer or caravan.
Weight Distribution
The stability of both your caravan and towing vehicle depends on correct weight distribution.

Load heavy items low in the caravan, ideally over the axle(s).

Distribute lighter items, such as bedding or clothing, evenly to maintain proper noseweight at the coupling.

The noseweight must not exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation.

You can measure this with an inexpensive noseweight gauge, available from caravan accessory suppliers.
Tip: The heavier your load, the higher your fuel consumption.
